Let's hope those aren't MY last words because . . . I've done it. I've booked my next big trip and I am traveling to Africa. From Cairo to Cape Town. On another Dragoman Overlanding adventure. For five months. And I can't wait.
Trip begins on January 5, 2009, and doesn't end until May 31. This time around I will bring fewer socks and more underwear. One convertible backpack with rollies and a small empty duffle vs. two obnoxiously giant American-sized bags. Zero traveler's checks and extra contacts. A digital camera I know how to use and a fistful of memory sticks. Maybe an iPod and certainly my journal. The only thing I know for sure? That my truck duties will in no way, shape or form involve the words "Bar" or "Manager."
