I got derailed last year at the very beginning of my epic trip when I discovered that China did not allow access to blogspot. Yeah, well that was May 2009 and you could say it's taken a little time for me to get back on board!

Between now and then:
I traveled on a big orange truck named Gertie. Through Kyrgzstan (briefly, but long enough to require an expensive visa), China, Mongolia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Finland (again, briefly, but no visa at all). It was incredible and I didn't want it to end, but end it did.
I returned home, although home was no longer NYC. Home was and is San Francisco after a decade-long absence. I arrived safe and sound, but can not say the same about all of my belongings. Hint: DON'T USE ALLIED VAN LINES unless you want your furniture/art frames to be banged up, your clothes to be wadded into crinkly fabric balls and/or a few boxes of things to be missing entirely. Oh and then have to go into arbitration to get any kind of compensation because they won't take responsibility even though you bought the expensive extra insurance, "the most comprehensive protection plan in the industry." (It's going on 1-1/2 years and it's still unresolved.)
Oops, sorry for the tangent there. You can tell I am not at ALL angry:-)
So here I am and there you are and I will be much more diligent about providing entertaining, delightful posts from here on out:-)
xxoo
