AND SO IT BEGINS!!!!

Well, we made it to Cairo! No great shakes . . . easy flights and took advantage of the long Amsterdam layover to do a little sightseeing there. No partaking of Red Light District good or coffee house hash, but fun nonetheless. Love the free wineses on international flights.

Got to the great little Hotel Osiris at around 4AM on January 3 and still fighting the jet lag. Did a cheesy dinner cruise on the Nile last night, complete with Egyptian dudes singing elevator muzak versions of American "lite rock" songs, a bored & pissed off belly dancer, and two Soufi dancers - one of which was . . . a dwarf!!!! OMG!!!! And only one day into the trip:-)

Did a huge private trip around three pyramid sites today, it was sooooo cool!!!! It is so weird that the Giza Pyramids & Sphinx are literally across the street from a KFC & Pizza Hut. Oh yeah, I also continued my quest to have C.A.'s in World Heritage sites on each continent. Ugh. I guess that is only to be expected, but OMG!!!! And only two days into the trip:-)

Cairo seems very modern, not nearly as exotic as India, although we did spot a few tuk tuks and the random camel/donkey cart racing through the horrendous traffic. I COULD NEVER DRIVE HERE unless my car was padded with giant bubble wrap and I took Xanax before I got behind the wheel, it's terrifying. The craziest thing so far is that the Google ads on my blog are in Arabic and that's not that crazy, is it.
