The first day of my final leg started today in Chennai. Unfortunately, after three great nights in Mamallapuram, I arrived here in a very bad state. Woke up from a nap in the taxi with a HORRIBLE headache and proceeded to become delirious, shivery and achy.
I left Nic to buy truck groceries all on her own and was forced to skip the goodbye dinner tonight. I'm now dragging myself back to bed, under the influence of various drugs and hoping that I am not like this on the truck tomorrow (which has just been fixed in the shop here - the cab is apparently no longer on the wooden blocks that Dad and Marty improvised over a month ago!). Although there are only NINE passengers vs the usual 23, so we each have our own row and I think I will snag the five back seats so I can lay down. Only one new face on this leg, an Irish woman named Bernadette. So that's eight women + Darren + Adam/Steve (drivers). I'm sure the guys are apprehensive (as well they should be).
Let's hope that this does not set the tone for the coming four weeks . . .
