MONKEYING AROUND

Dad went on a flight to see Mt. Everest this morning and thought it was amazing. I opted to sleep in, deal with laundry and organize my luggage. Boring, huh?

Went to Swoyambhu, the "Monkey Temple." True to its name, it's full of lots of little monkeys. Not bad monkeys, though, they leave you alone and don't try and pick your pockets or anything. Then on to Durbar Square and all the old temples and shrines and great people-watching.

Now I am headed up to the rooftop bar to have a cold beer and escape the carbon monoxide, which is ATROCIOUS. Going to invest in several bottles of codeine cough syrup (which you can buy over the counter here along with a lot of other things you could never buy in states) so I don't immediately piss off my Dragoman roomie.

Meet up with Dragoman group at 10AM tomorrow . . . impossible to believe that we're already at that point! We had a big farewell dinner last night at the hotel and I gave a little speech for Vishnu, our trek leader, before handing him the group tip. (Tipping as a large group is a big pain in the pooper, let me tell you. The people who complain the most and demand the most attention are the biggest cheapskates and don't like being called out on it. Ugh.)
